HOW TO
QUIT SMOKING
WHILE PREGNANT
KILLER ADVICE YOU MUST READ!!!
The pregnant mother smoking is the number one reason for adverse effects in new babies, premature babies, born too small, death while still in the womb.
WHY IS IT SO DANGEROUS?
Cigarettes contain over 4,000 harmful chemicals and compounds, 60 of them carcinogenic. If you are smoking while pregnant the only form of nutrients and oxygen your baby is getting is via your bloodstream, and you are putting cyanide and lead to name but a few into it.
Just think, you’re preparing your new born baby his/her strained apples and you’re adding a dollop of cyanide or lead into it!!!
Quit smoking now!!! The most serious complications, and that includes still birth, are premature and low birth weight. The Nicotine blocks off the oxygen to your baby, it does this by narrowing your blood vessels throughout your system, including the umbilical chord.
If your new baby does not get enough oxygen it can effect the baby’s growth and early development. Smoking while pregnant doubles the chances of a premature birth, weight less than normal at birth plus doubles the risk of stillbirth.
Just one or two cigarettes a day will tighten your blood vessels. It is no good saying, “Well I only have one or two a day”. You’re creating the same dangers.
WEIGHT
Smoking while pregnant can stunt your baby’s growth that can cause problems for a lifetime.
PATCHES & GUMS
These contain small doses of Nicotine and are NOT recommended.
The more cigarettes you smoke during your pregnancy, the more likely your child will show severe behavior problems – anxiety, disobedience, aggressiveness – compared to children of non-smokers. Studies show 14 year old students from parents who smoked showed less academic abilities plus poorer health.
“School performance of smokers’ children was poorer than that of their counterparts when measured to their counterparts, scores were 4 out of 10 and that’s amongst boys and girls. The children were more susceptible to respiratory diseases than others. Also shorter by nearly 1 centimetre”.
SMOKING DURING PREGNANCY: Chances are your child will be Hyperactive (ADHD). Cigarette smoke contains highly poisonous compounds, the accumulation of carbon monoxide in the fetal blood stream could lead to serious reductions in the levels of oxygen reaching your baby. It has been found that the blood is carrying twice the level of carbon monoxide than to the mother.
